Cash for Clunkers Important Information

If you're coming in to Oak Lawn Toyota to take advantage of Cash for Clunkers, then you absolutely need to follow this checklist, or you won't be eligible for the special rebate.
Please have the following in hand when you arrive:
1. One Year Proof of Insurance
2. Proof of Registration going back at least one year
3. "Clear" title (this means the title must be free of any liens or other encumbrances. If you have liens, you need to get these cleared before coming to the dealer.)
4. The vehicle manufacturer date found on the driver's door or door jamb is less than 25 years old when you trade it in.
Once you do that, then you'll need to certify the following:
1. The trade-in car is in driveable condition
2. You are the registered owner, and have been for at least the last year
3. The car has been continuously insured for the last year
4. The car is titled in your name and has been for the last year
5. You have not previously participated in the CARS program

Toyota Developing iPhone App for Prius

There's a rumor circulating among Prius chat sites that Apple is developing an app made just for Prius owners.
According to some online forums, Toyota is developing the app with iCrossing, a digital marketing company. They'll supposedly branch out from the Prius and develop the app for more Toyota and Lexus models. I'll have a review of the Prius app as soon as it becomes available.

Harry Potter Star Emma Watson drives a 2010 Toyota Prius!
Emma has been making the talk-show rounds lately in preparation for the release of the new Harry Potter movie. Last night she was on Letterman, and she announced that she recently got her drivers license and she drives a Prius. Gotta love a young starlet who cares about the environment!

Local man helps spread joy to sick children.
Being situated near Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, we get many customers who have been visiting the hospital for one reason or another, who come to us when they want to purchase a car. The most heart-breaking stories are from those who have kids in Hope Children’s Hospital. When they talk about how they’ve been living at the hospital for weeks—even months—while their child gets the care they need, it’s so hard to swallow.
A friend of M Blogee passed along this article that she found in the Southtown Star over the weekend. It features a local man who is doing what he can to help sick kids at the University of Chicago Medical Center. It’s definitely worth the read! Follow the link below to check it out.

Toyota’s Plug-in Hybrid a Reality

Toyota to start mass-producing plug-in vehicle in 2012.
According to reports,
Toyota has plans to produce a plug-in hybrid based on the new Prius. In 2012, they hope to roll out 20,000 to 30,000 vehicles.
Toyota says the cars will be powered by a lithium-ion battery developed by its partner, Panasonic. Apparently, the cars will be able to run for 18 miles solely on battery power before the back-up gas power will kick in.
If you’re interested in purchasing one, early word is that they won’t be cheap.
Toyota says they’ll probably base their pricing off of Mitsubishi’s new electrics, which will cost around $48,000.
No word on when the vehicles will reach the
U.S.
, or when sales of the plug-ins will start here.

Oak Lawn Toyota sales representatives Bob Spee and John Beris—along with their respective families—drove vehicles in the Oak Lawn and Palos Heights 4th of July parades on Saturday. Both parades were great successes. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us!!
Papa Luigis Fails to Make Bank

Lunch orders were down today at Oak Lawn Toyota.
Due to the absence of a key salesperson, Papa Luigis failed to sell out the lunch cart Monday afternoon. Turns out donning a bikini top really does do wonders to boost sales, and without said bikini top, sales were down today (at least that’s what I’ve surmised). This might bode well for M Softee... maybe all the money people saved today by not opting for Papa Luigis, they’ll spend on ice cream!
Camry More American than F-150?

Survey says…Yes!
The Cars.com annual American-Made Index puts the Toyota Camry ahead of the Ford F-150 in terms of “Made in America” status. The survey, based partly on number of parts made in the U.S., indicates Toyota as the most American car company as well. Hmmm.
