Hybrid Cars Could Come with Sound Effects
The New York Times reports that cars like the Prius could include a fake engine rev for safety.
Automakers are working with special effects to try and make hybrids safer for pedestrians. The quiet vehicles have a tendency to sneak up on people and that could pose a problem. That’s why your Prius could soon be sporting a fake “vroom vroom,” or any other sound effect you may choose.

Beginning October 31st, 2009:
Monday-Thursday: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Fridays: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturdays: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturdays in the Service department do fill up fast, so please make sure to call ahead!

More on the FT-86 Concept
Toyota is set to unveil the concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The FT-86 is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. The rear wheel drive sports car features a 2.0 liter, four cylinder boxer engine called the “C-45 Boxer,” producing between 200 and 250 horsepower. Reports are saying the FT-86 has a manual, six-speed transmission and no hybrid system.
